A Booth Around the Corner
On the first floor at Shek Tung Tsui Market, a booth dried food booth stands at the left corner. It is owned by an aged couple. The husband arrives around 7 a.m., and his wife takes over around 1 p.m.
Selling for Decades
A male customer dropped by around 11:30 a.m. to get some sago and sticky rice. “I have been buying from him for decades. Great goods, good prices.” the customer said.
Another female customer came around 2 p.m. to buy two bundles of bean vermicelli and a bag of dried shrimps. The booth owner crammed some snacks into the package – this is like her treat to nearly every customer.
Better Packings, Better Sales
Afternoons before 4 p.m. are usually less busy than bustling mornings. The booth owner takes this time to tidy up her goods. “People will like it better if you put your goods neatly into newer packages,” she said while aligning the eggs into cartons and changing sausage packages.
